| Lois Kilby-Chesley- Vice Chair, MEABT | Lois Kilby-Chesley is Vice President of the Maine Education Association and a full-time teacher at Mast Landing School in Freeport. A native of Freeport Lois returned “home” to teach in the Spring Hill Program, a multiage program for grades three through five, in 1986 following seven years of teaching in Colorado and New Mexico. She has taught in Freeport for 24 years ~ a total of 31 years of educating children and advocating for colleagues.
Since graduating from the University of Maine in 1976, Lois attended graduate school at New Mexico State University in early childhood special education, received a MA from USM in Educational Leadership, and became a National Board for Professional Teaching Standards certified teacher in middle childhood.

Given the uncertainty about federal health care reform, this is a good time to review our current MEA Benefits Trust plan for participants. And, it affords me the opportunity to explain how the MEA Benefits Trust is enhancing the plan and improving the health care delivery system in our state.
As many of you know, the MEA Benefits Trust provides health insurance for 99% of the schools in the state. Although the amounts the schools contribute to the premium differ from school district to school district, the premium for the Trust’s Standard Plan or the Choice Plus Plan remains the same.
