Contact Your Senators: Support the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act of 2009
Daniel N. Marzoni, II, AEA president, urges all AEA members to ask Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor to support the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act of 2009. This act will benefit Arkansas education in many ways:
Arkansas would receive $1.25 billion for education-related programs alone
- It will help youth in every community gain access to better education
- Investments include school modernization projects, additional grant monies and increased funding for programs like IDEA and Head Start.
- It will free up other state funding that may be used for public school employee health insurance.
This bill is now in the U.S. Senate, where senators may vote as early as today.
We need you to call your senators offices IMMEDIATELY. Sen. Blanche Lincoln contact her on her Web site at www.lincoln.senate.gov; or call her at (202) 224-4843. Sen. Mark Pryor contact him on his Web site at www.pryor.senate.gov or call him at (202) 224-2353.
Our message is:
- It will help youth in every community gain access to better education
- Senators should take swift action to support and pass the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. This bill will help jump-start the economy by investing in jobs and education.
- States will be able to close huge budget deficits as a result of this package, and critical jobs of teachers and public safety officials can be saved.
